1848  Field Marshal H.H. Ibrahim Pasha, Vali of Egypt, Nubia, Darfur, Kordofan and Sennar. b. at Nusretli, Drama, Macedonia, before 9th September 1789, eldest son of H.H. Muhammad ‘Ali Pasha, Vali of Egypt, etc, by his first wife, Amina Kadin Effendimiz, educ. privately at Istanbul. Governor of Cairo 1805-1806, and of Upper Egypt 1812-1816, Governor of Jedda and C-in-C of the the Hijaz 1817-1840, Damascus 1832-1840, and of the Morea (Greece) 1825-1828, a hostage at Istanbul October 1806-1807, Treasurer 1807-1813, cdr of military expeditions to the Sudan, occupied Syria for his father 1831-1841. Granted the rank and title of Bey 1805, prom Mîrmîran Pasha 1813, prom. Vizier and Pasha with three horsetails 31st December 1816 (invested 19th January 1817). Appointed as Katkhuda (Viceroy’s First Lieutenant), Governor of the Provinces, C-in-C of the Army, Grand Admiral, Generalissimo, and Chief of the Internal Administration and External Trade, July 1829. Succeeded on the resignation of his father, 15th April 1848 (recognized by the porte, 20th July 1848). Invested by the Sultan in person at Istanbul, Turkey, 25th August 1848. Hon Mbr Soc of Arts (London) 1846-1848. Rcvd. the Order of Glory (Atiq Nishan-i-Iftikhar) of Turkey, Knt of the Order of St Joseph of Tuscany (26.11.1845), GC of the Orders of the Legion of Honour of France (1.5.1846) and the Tower & Sword for Valor, Loyalty & Merit of Portugal (18.7.1846). m. (first) ca. 1813, Khadija BirinijiKadin Effendi (d. 1870, bur. Afifi Cemetery, Cairo, Egypt), a lady of Persian origin. m. (second) Shivakiar Kadin Effendi (d. at the Smaller Kasr-i-A’ali, Cairo, Egypt, 1864, bur. Hosh al-Basha, Imam al-Shafi’i, Cairo, Egypt), a Circassian. m. (third) H.H. Khushiyar Kadin Effendimiz, the Valida Pasha [H.H. the Khediva Mother] (d. at the Greater Qasr al-A’ali Palace, Cairo, Egypt, 21st June 1886, bur. there at the Khedival Mausoleum, ar-Rifai Mosque), rcvd: the Order of the Osmans (Nishan-i-Osmanieh) of Turkey in brilliants (8.4.1863), a sister of the H.M. Partav-Nihal, Valida Sultana, of Turkey. m. (fourth) Ulfat Khanum (b. 1815; d. at Istanbul, Turkey, 2nd March 1865, bur. at the Great Mosque at Eyüp, Turkey), a Turkish lady. m. (fifth) Gulizar Khanum (d.s.p. in Egypt, 19th October 1865, bur. Afifi Cemetery, Cairo). m. (sixth) Sa’arit Khanum(d.s.p. in Egypt, 17th January 1870; bur. Afifi Cemetery, Cairo, Egypt). m. (seventh) Misirli Kadin Effendi. He d. at Cairo, Egypt, 10th November 1848 (bur. Hosh al-Basha, Imam al-Shafi’i, Cairo, Egypt), having had issue, four sons and three daughters:
