1974 - [1997] H.I.M. Amha Selassie I, Elect of God, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah and King of Kings of Ethiopia, GCMG (16.10.1958), GCVO (30.10.1930), GBE (c 13.1.1932), Royal Victorian Chain (1.2.1965). b. at Harar, 27^th July 1916, as Lij Asfa Wossen and baptised as Amha Selassie, eldest son of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I, Elect of God, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah and King of Kings of Ethiopia, KG, GCB, GCMG, GCVO, Royal Victorian Chain, by his second wife, H.I.M. Empress Menen, educ. Tafari Makonnen Sch, Addis Ababba, Liverpool Univ, and the Sobat Military Acad, Sudan. Raised to the title of Le’ul (Prince), with the style of  His Imperial Highness, 3^rd April 1930. Annointed and invested with the title of Alga Worrach (Crown Prince), at the Coronation of his parents, 2^nd November 1930. Raised to the additional title of Meridazmatch 22^nd January 1931. Governor of Wollo 1926-1933 and 1942-1944, served during the War of Independence as Cdr Anglo-Ethiopian Gideon Force in Gojjam capturing Gondar 1941, Acting Governor of Tigray, Begameder & Semien 1941. Proclaimed on the deposition of his father as Lion and King of Ethiopia, September 1974 but was himself deposed on the abolition of the monarchy by the Dergue, March 1975. Succeeded on the death of his father as Head of the Imperial House of Ethiopia, 27^th August 1975. Crowned privately at London assuming the reign name of Amha Selassie I and titles of Conquering Lion of Judah, and King of Kings of Ethiopia, 7^th April 1989. Chair Ethiopian Red Cross Soc. (second) at Addis Ababa, 8^th April 1945, H.I.M. Empress Medferiash Worq (b. 1925; d. in hospital at Addis Ababa, 13^th March 2009, bur. there beside her mother in the graveyard of the Holy Trinity Cathedral), crowned privately with her husband at London 6^th April 1988, Patroness of the Monastery of St. Mary at Gishen, rcvd: Grand Collar and Chain of the Order of Solomon, GC of the Orders of the Star of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba (8.4.1945), and Imperial Jubilee Medals (1955 & 1966), Mbr of the Order of the Serephim of Sweden (19.12.1959), GC of the Orders of St Olav of Norway (x.1.1956), and Beneficience of Greece (x.4.1959), youngest daughter of Major-General Dejazmatch Abebe Damtew, by his wife, Woizero Wosen Falesh, daughter of H.E. Ras Bitwodad Mangasha Atikam, Viceroy of Gojjam. He d. at Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia, USA, 17^th January 1997 (bur. Holy Trinity Cathedral, Addis Ababa), having had issue, one son and four daughters:

• 1) H.I.H. Princess (Le’ult) Ijigayehu. b. at Dessie, 4^th September 1934 (d/o Woizero Walatta Israel), educ. Clarendon Sch., Abergale, North Wales. Rcvd: GC of the Orders of the Queen of Sheba, Beneficience of Greece (x.4.1959), Refugee (1944), and Imperial Jubilee (1955 & 1966) medals, GC of the Orders of Queen Kossomak of Cambodia (4.5.1968), and Merit of the Republic of Italy (6.11.1970). m. at Addis Ababa, 1955, H.E. Dejazmatch Fikre-Selassie Hapte Mariam (b. at Nekemt, Wollega, 1928), Governor-General of Wollega 1957-1967, rcvd: GC of the Order of the Holy Trinity, and Imperial Jubilee Medals (1955 & 1966), son of H.E. Dejazmatch Habte Mariam Gabre-Igziabiher, of Liqa Nekemt and Governor of Wollega, by his wife, Woizero Shashitu. She d. from gangrene poisoning, in Akaki Prison, Addis Ababa, 23^rd January 1976, having had issue, three sons and three daughters:

  • b) H.I.H. Prince (Le’ul) Bekere Fikre-Selassie. b. at Addis Ababa, 1962. Escaped from confinement 1977. Vice-Presdt of the Ethiopian Crown Council 1993-2005. Assumed the office of Enderasse (Viceroy) together with the title of Le’ul (Prince) and the style of His Imperial Highness 15^th July 1993, and Joint Grand Master Orders of the Seal of Solomon, Queen of Seba, Holy Trinity, Menelik II, Haile Selassie, and the Star of Ethiopia, the Grand Collar and Chain of the Order of Solomon (none of these titles or offices were recognised by Crown Prince Zara Yakob). Rcvd: Imperial Jubilee Medal (1966). m. H.I.H. Princess (Le’ult) Donna.
  • c) Lij Yishaq Fikre-Selassie. b. at Nekemt, Wollega,  1964, educ. Rhode Island Sch. of Design. Escaped from confinement 1977. Rcvd: Imperial Jubilee Medal (1966). m. Woizero Asqual Tafari. He has issue, two daughters:

Raised to the rank of a princess with the title of Immabet-Hoy by her maternal grandfather 1989. Matron of The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (Priory of the Mountain of the House of the Lord). Rcvd: Imperial Jubilee Medal (1966). m. at the Russian Orthodox Church, Old Jerusalem, 2^nd March 1984, Professor Anatoly Georgevitch Antohin (b. at Moscow, Russia, 1^st March 1949), son of Georgii Antohin, by his wife Lydia, née Giryakova. She has issue one son and one daughter:
    • i) Lij Alexey Tafari Selassie Antohin. b. at Berlin, Washington, Vermont, USA, 28^th June 1986. Employed as a teacher in California. He d. unm. from injuries received in a road accident three days earlier, at San Diego, California, USA, 18^th October 2015.
    • i) Woizerit Alexandra Ejigayehu Selassie Antohin. b. at Manhattan, New York, USA, 9^th August 1984.
• 2) H.I.H. Princess (Le’ult) Mariam Sena. b. at the Palace of the Crown Prince, Addis Ababa, 11^th December 1950 (d/o Empress Medferiash), educ. Nazareth Sch. for Girls, Addis Ababa, and Benenden Sch, Cranbrook, Kent. Rcvd: GC of the Order of the Queen of Sheba, and Imperial Jubilee Medals (1955 & 1966). m. at Addis Ababa, 30^th July 1972, Lij Saifu Zewde (b. 21^st December 1941). She has issue, two sons:
