GENEALOGY

1184 - 1213 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vardan II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia (Odeshi-Egrisi-Bedia), a descendant of Vardan Dadiani, Eristav of Svania during the first century AD. Lord High Chamberlain and Lord High Steward of Georgia, Governor of Orbeti and Kaeni. Appointed as hereditary Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia (Odeshi-Egrisi-Bedia) in reward for his military services, 1184. He d. ca. 1213, having had issue:

1) Johan Shah, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) Zakaria Dadiani. Granted Gagi, Kurdvachari and Gandza in fief by Queen Thamar.
3) Sargis Dadiani. He had issue:
- a) His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Ivane Dadiani. Lord High Chamberlain of Georgia.

Fl. 1220 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Shergil Dadiani [Johan Shah], Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Natalia. He d. after 1220, having had issue, at least two sons and one daughter:

1) Vardan III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) Zotne Badiani Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
1) Princess Thamar.

Fl. 1250 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vardan III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. He d. (s.p?) after 1250.

Fl. 1260 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Zotne Badiani Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, a son of Johan Shah, Eristav of Mingrelia. Regent of the kingdom of Abasgia 1245-1250 Lord High Steward (Mandaturth-Ukhutsesi) of Georgia. Succeeded his brother, ca. 1260. m. (first) Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Khwarashan [Khvashak Khanum], daughter of Salim Beg Orbeliani, Duke of Iberia, and Prince of Surami. m. (second) Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Marikha (or Borena, daughter of Prince Tbeli, of Heretia). He d. after 1260, having had issue, three sons:

1) Irishar Dadiani.
2) Giorgi I Dadiani, Duke of Odishi and Egrisi (s/o Marikha) - see below.
3) His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Ioani Dadiani, Duke of Svania. Lord High Steward (Mandaturth-Ukhutsesi) of Georgia.

1320 - 1323 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi I Dadiani, Eristav of Odishi and Egrisi. Appointed as Eristav of Odishi and Egrisi during his father's lifetime. Adjutant-Gen. Established his independence ca. 1320. He d. 1323, had issue:

1) Mamia I Dadiani, Duke of the Guria- see below.

1323 - 1345 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia I Dadiani, Duke of the Guria. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1323. He d. 1345, having had issue:

1) Giorgi II Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia and Svania - see below.

1345 - 1384 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi II Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia and Svania. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1345. Installed by King Giorgi the Brilliant. Lord High Steward (Mandaturth-Ukhutsesi) of Georgia. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Rusudan. He d. 1384 (bur. with his wife, Kopi Convent), having had issue, two sons and one daughter:

1) Vameq I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kakhabar Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of Svania - see Georgia (Guria).
1) Princess Marika (bur. Kopi Convent).

1384 - 1396 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vameq I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1384. Adjutant-General and Lord High Steward (Mandaturth-Ukhutsesi) of Georgia. He d. 1396 (bur. Kopi Convent), having had issue:

1) Mamia II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.

1396 - 1414 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. He was k. in battle with the Abkhazis, 1414, having had issue:

1) Liparit I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) Vameq II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.

1414 - 1470 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Liparit I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, elder son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1414. Installed by King Aleksandri. Established his independence 1466. He d. 1470, having had issue, two sons:

1) Samsan ud-Daula [Chaman-Dawle] Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia II Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see Georgia (Guria).

1470 - 1474 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Samsan ud-Daula [Chaman-Dawle] Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia and Svania. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1470. Lord High Steward (Mandaturth-Ukhutsesi) of Georgia. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Ana. He d. 1474 (bur. Kopi Convent), having had issue:

1) Liparit II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.

1474 - 1482 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vameq II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, younger son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Succeeded on the death of his nephew, 1474. Rebelled against King Bagrati but was defeated in battle, 1477. He d. 1482.

1482 - 1512 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Liparit II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Samsan ud-Daula [Chaman-Dawle] Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia and Svania, by his wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Ana. Succeeded on the death of his grand uncle, 1482. Established his independence, 1491. He d. 1512, having had issue, one son and one daughter:

1) Mamia III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
1) Princess Gulnar Khanum. m. The Most Excellent Prince Abbas II, Prince of Sabashidzo and Sapalavando (d. after 1510), elder son of The Most Excellent Prince Taqa I, Prince of Sabashidzo and Sapalavando.

1512 - 1532 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Liparit II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1512. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Elisabed. He d. 1532, having had issue, one son and one daughter:

1) Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) Prince Dathulia Dadiani [Batul]. m. (div.) Princess Thamar (m. second, 1566, as his second wife, His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia), younger sister of Queen Rusudan, and daughter of Prince Shervashidze, of Abkhazia. He d. before 1580.

1532 - 1546 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, by his wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Elisabed. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1532. Deposed by King Bagrat III of Imereti, in favour of his eldest son, 1546. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Marika. He d. 1572, having had issue, four sons and four daughters:

1) Giorgi III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
2) Mamia IV Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
3) Manuchar I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
4) The Most Excellent Prince Giorgi Dadiani, Prince of Salipartiano [Giorgi Lipartian I]. m. (first) The Most Excellent Princess Ana Dadiani. m. (second) The Most Excellent Princess Nesatan-Darejan (m. second, before 1628, His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, and d. 1^st June 1639), née Dchiladze. m. (third) …He d. 1618/1628, having had issue, four sons and two daughters:

(second) 1586, H.M. The Most High King Levanti I, King of Imereti (b. 1573; d.s.p. in prison at Fort Shketi, Odishi, 1590), third son of H.M. The Most High King Giorgi II, King of Imereti, by his second wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Rusudan, daughter of Prince Shervashidze, of Abkhazia - see Georgia (Imereti).

1546 - 1574 & 1574 - 1582 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, eldest son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1546. Deposed by his younger brother in 1574, but restored later that same year. m. (first) (div. 1564) a daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Rustami Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. m. (second) 1566, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Thamar (m. third, 1582, His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi II Gurieli, Duke of the Guria), former wife of Prince Dathulia Dadiani, younger sister of H.M. Queen Rusudan, and daughter of Prince Shervashidze, of Abkhazia. He d. 1582, having had issue, an only son:

1) The Brilliant Prince Levanti Dadiani. b. 1577. m. a daughter of his uncle, His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia IV Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. He d. 1582.

1574 & 1582 - 1590 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia IV Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, second son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Deposed his brother and assumed control 1574. Pacified and granted Sadshilao in fief, 1574. Succeeded on the death of his brother, 1582. m. a daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Rustami Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. He d. 1590 (succ. by his younger brother).

1590 - 1611 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamuka [Manuchar] I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, third son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, 1590. m. (first) 30^th August 1591, H.H. The Most Brilliant Princess Nestan-Darejan (d. in childbirth, ca. May 1592), eldest daughter of H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri II, King of Kakheti, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Tinatina, daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Bardzim I Amilakhvari. m. (second) 1592, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Thamar (b. 18^th April 1561), widow of The Noble Kaikhushru Oraviandashvili and of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang Gurieli, Duke of the Guria, and younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kaikhushru II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé, by his wife, Princess Dédis-Imédi, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang I, 2^nd Prince of Mukhrani. He d. in a hunting accident, at Zugdidi, Mingrelia, 1611, having had issue, four sons and three daughters:

2) Prince Jesse Dadiani. Blinded. He had issue, two sons:
- a) Levanti III [Shaman Daula] Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia - see below.
- b) Prince Mamuka Dadiani (s/o a concubine?). Emigrated to Russia?

(second) at Tbilisi, Kartli, 1638, H.M. The Most High King Rustami [Khushru Mirza], King of Kartli (b. 1567; d.s.p. at Tbilisi, Kartli, 17^th November 1658, bur. Qum), natural son of H.M. The Most High King Davit XI [Daud-Khan], King of Kvemo Kartli, by a concubine. m. (third) at Tbilisi, Kartli, 1659, H.M. The Most High King Vakhtang V [Shah Nawaz Khan II], King of Kartli (d. at Khoscaro, Ganja, September 1676, bur. Qum), eldest son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Bagrat II Taimurazi, 3^rd Prince of Mukhrani and Regent of Georgia, by his wife, a daughter of the Duke of Aragvi. She d. at Tbilisi, Kartli, 1682, having had issue, one son by her second husband - see Georgia (Kartli).
2) Princess Ana Khanum. m. 1634, H.M. Zillu'llah 'Abu'l Muzafar Shah Safi I, Shahanshah of Persia (b. 1611; d. from drink, at Kashan, 12^th May 1642), eldest son of H.H. Shahzada Sultan Muhammad Baqir Safi Mirza, by his wife, Dil Aram Khanum. She d. 1648 - see Persia (Safawi).
3) Another daughter, who served as a nun at Mertvil in 1640.
