Nishan al-Sayyid Muhammad ibn Ali al-Sanussi (the High Order of Sayyid Muhammad ibn Ali al-Sanussi): founded by King Idris I in 1951 as an award for exceptional services to the state. Awarded in four classes (1. First class or Grand Cordon - limited to a handful of awards to the highest ranking and most accomplished statesmen, 2. Second class or Grand Officer, 3. Al-Sanusi National Service Star: instituted by King Idris I in 1955. Awarded in a single class.
Al-Sanusi Army Liberation Medal: instituted by King Idris I to recognize the creation of the Army of Liberation on 9th August 1940, and awarded to those who fought against the Axis powers during the Second World War. Awarded in a single class.
