Tu Tunuiea’’aite-a-tua Pomare II, King of Tahiti, by his second wife, H.M. Queen Te-ri’to’-‘o-te-rai Tere Moemoe Pomare-vahine, educ. privately. Proclaimed on the death of her younger brother, 11^th January 1827. Crowned at Papeete. Entered into a treaty of eternal peace and friendship with France, 4^th September 1838. Accepted French protection and concluded a new treaty with King Louis Philippe, 9^th September 1842. Succeeded in reuniting Ra’iatea and Bora Bora into the united kingdom of Tahiti with French assistence, 1857. Amended the line of succession in 1875. m. (first) at the LMS Chapel, Huahine, December 1822 (sep. 1831, div. 1832), H.R.H. 3) H.R.H. Crown Prince (Ari‘iaue) Teuira Henri Pomare, Ari‘i of Afa’ahiti. b. at Motu’uta islet, Papeete, 12^th August 1838, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent and invested with the title of Ari‘i of Afa’ahiti. He d.s.p. unm. at Papeete, Tahiti, 10^th May 1856 (bur. Pomare Royal Cemetery, Papa’oa, Arue).
4) H.R.H. Crown Prince (Ari‘iaue) Teri’i Taria Tera-tane, who succeeded as H.M. Pomare V, King of Tahiti – see below.
5) H.R.H. Prince Tamatoa-a-tu [Tamatoa V], Ari‘irahi of Ra’iatea and Taha’a. b. at Moorea, 23^rd September 1842, educ. privately. Adopted by Tamatoa IV, Ari‘irahi of Ra’iatea and Taha’a. Succeeded on his death, 19^th August 1857. Crowned at Opoa, by The Rev Platt, 1^st December 1860. Deposed by his subjects for mismanagement, 8^th February 1871. m. at Ra’iatea, 12^th July 1863, Moe-te-ra-uri a Moe-Tati Maheanu’u-a-Mai [H.R.H. Designated as Heiress Apparent in succession to Pomare V 24^th September 1877, in preference to any children that Queen Marau might give birth. m. at Papeete, Tahiti, 29^th April 1884 (div. 21^st January 1893), Teri’itonorua Norman Brander (b. at Papeete, Tahiti, 20^th May 1864; m. second, at Papeari, 21^st July 1917, Ari‘i Tefa’atau-vahine Manihinihi Te-matafa’ai-nui Alexandrina Salmon, his aunt, and d. at Papeete, Tahiti, 25^th May 1930, leaving further issue), educ. i) The Hon Teri‘i-rere Tihoni Teri‘i-nui-‘o-Tahiti John Brander [Jock]. b. at Papeete, Tahiti, 7^th July 1885. m. 18^th July 1910, Tetu-ari‘i Topa Teura-ri Brander (b. 1887). He d. at Papeete, Tahiti, 6^th December 1918, having had issue, one son and two daughters:

(1) Noéline Titaua Niky Brander. b. at Papeete, Tahiti, 1915. m. Takao Tinirau [Takao Karika-Makea Browne] (b. at Nikoa, Rarotonga, Cook Islands, 10^th May 1910; d. there, 14^th November 1970), educ. Fiji Medical Sch, Suva, Fiji, Medical Officer and Resident outer Islands of the Cooks 1931-1947, actg Resident and Medical Officer Penrhyn 1947, Resident Agent and Medical Officer Pukapuka 1948-1953, Resident Agent Manihiki 1953-1954, Official Govt Interpreter Rarotonga 1954, adopted son of the Makea Tinirau Teremoana Ariki Nui, and third son of William Parau Browne, of Rarotonga, sometime MLC Cook Islands, by his first wife, Tuvaine Tamarua from the Makea Nui family. Teura-i-te-rai-ari‘i, daughter of his uncle, Teri’i Temaeva-rau John Brander [Jack], sometime British Hon Vice-Consul and actg Consul at Papeete, by Paroe Paroo Moti. He d. November 1966, having had issue, one son and two daughters:

b) H.R.H. Princess Ari‘i-‘otare Teari‘i-maevarua II, Ari‘irahi of Bora Bora. b. 28^th May 1871, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of her aunt as Ari‘irahi of Bora Bora, 12^th February 1873. Deposed by the French, 19^th March 1888. m. at Bora Bora, 9^th January 1884 (div. 1887), H.R.H. Prince Teri’i Hinoi-a-tua Pomare, Ari‘irahi of Hitia’a (b. 2^nd August 1869; d. 28^th May 1916), eldest son of H.R.H. Prince Teri’i-tua Tuariva [Joinville], Ari‘irahi of Hitia’a, by his wife Isabelle Vahine-tua-vira [H.R.H. Princess Joinville], Ari‘i of Arue, natural daughter of William Shaw. 7) H.R.H. Prince Teri’itua Tuavira [Joinville], Ari‘irahi of Hitia’a. b. at Papeete, Tahiti, 17^th December 1847, educ. privately in Tahiti, with the Brothers of Ploermel, Nantes, and at Notre Dame des Toutes Aydes, near Nice, France. Adopted at birth by the childless Ari‘irahi Teri’i-tua of Hitia’a, and succeeded to that title on her death, 3^rd June 1849. Reigned under the regency of his adoptive father, Teohi, who administered the district until he came of age. m. at Papeete, Tahiti, 17^th June 1868, Isabelle Vahine-tua-vira Rori-ari‘i a Tohi [H.R.H.
