GENEALOGY

Fl. 1372 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kakhabar Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of Svaneti, younger son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi II Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia and Svaneti, and sometime Lord High Steward of Georgia. He had issue:

1) Giorgi Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.

Fl. 1422 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Succeeded his father. He had issue, two sons:

1) Mamia Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.
2) Prince Kaikubad Dadiani-Gurieli.

Fl.1460 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. m. a daughter of H.M. David Komnenos, Emperor of Trebizond. He may have had issue, a son:

1) Kakhabar Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.

14xx - 1483 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kakhabar Gurieli, Duke of the Guria, possibly a son of Mamia Dadiani-Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Ana (bur. Semokmedi). He d. at Semokmedi, 1483, having had issue:

1) Giorgi I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.

1483 - 1512 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1483. Established his independence from Imereti, 1491. He d. 1512, having had issue, four sons, including:

1) Mamia I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.

1512 - 1534 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia [Emanuel] I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Taken prisoner while on expedition against the Turks, 1533. He was k. by the Turks, 1534, having had issue:

1) Rustam Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.
2) Prince Giorgi Gurieli. He d. 1533.
1) Princess Tinatina. m. as his first wife (div. 1529) H.M. The Most High King Levanti II, King of Kakheti (b. 1504; k. 1574), son of H.M. The Most High King Giorgi II le Mauvais, King of Kakheti, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Eleni, sister of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Garsevan Irubakidze, Prince of Sacholokao, Master of the Court of Kakheti. She d. at Telavi, 1591 (bur. there at the Shuamtha Convent), having had issue, three sons - see Georgia (Kakheti).

1534 - 1564 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Rustam Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1534. m. Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Tinatina. He d. 1564, having had issue, a son and two daughters:

1) Giorgi II Gurieli, Eristav of Guria - see below.
1) a daughter. m. as his first wife (div. 1564), His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia (d. 1582), eldest son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, by his wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Marika. She had issue - see Georgia (Migrelia).
2) a daughter. m. His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia IV Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia (d. 1590), second son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, by his wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Marika. She had issue - see Georgia (Mingrelia).

1564 - 1583 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi II Gurieli, Eristav of Guria (first time) - see below.

1583 - 1587 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Installed after the deposition of his father, 1583. m. 1583, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Thamar (b. 18^th April 1561; m. second, 1592, as his second wife, His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Manuchar I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, bur. Semokmed), former wife of The Noble Kaikhushru Oraviandashvili, and younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kaikhushru II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé, by his wife, Princess Dédis-Imédi, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang I, 2^nd Mukhrani-batoni. He d. 1587, having had issue, one son and one daughter:

1) Kaikhushru I Gurieli, Eristav of Guria - see below.
1) Princess Thamar. m. Prince Papuna Dchiladze.

1564 - 1583 & 1587 - 1598 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi II Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1564. Expelled 1583. Restored 1587. m. (first) ca. 1566 (div.), a daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. m. (second) 1582, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Thamar, widow of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Giorgi III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, former wife of Prince Dathulia Dadiani, and younger daughter of Prince Shirvashidze, of Abkhazia. He d. 1598, having had issue, three sons and one daughter:

1) Mamia II Gurieli, Eristav of Guria - see below.
2) Vakhtang I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see above.
3) His Beatitude Prince Malkhaz Gurieli. Bishop of Jumati and Semokmedi, and Catholicos of Abkhazia 1619-1641. He d. ca. 1641 (bur. Semokmedi Cathedral).
1) Princess Rodam. m. November 1570, Prince Mze-Shabuk [Shahbakht?](b. 1550; d. 11^th January 1572), second son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kaikhushru II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé, by his wife, Princess Dédis-Imédi, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang I, 2^nd Mukhrani-Batoni. She d. 1600 (s.p.?).

1598 - 1627 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamia II Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1598. He was k. by surprise, 1627, having had issue:

1) Svimeon Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.
1) Princess Tamara (eldest daughter). m. 1618 (div. 1620) H.M. The Most High King Aleksandri III, King of Imereti (d. 1660), second son of H.M. The Most High King Giorgi III, King of Imereti. She had issue, two sons - see Georgia (Imereti).
2) H.M. The Most High Queen Ana. m. as his first wife, H.M. The Most High King Taimuraz I [Taimurazi Khan], King of Kartli and Kakheti (b. 1589; d. in captivity at the Fortress of Astarabad, January 1663, bur. Aliverdi), son of H.M. The Most High King Davit II, King of Kakheti, by his wife, H.M. The Most High Queen St Kéthévan, daughter of Prince Archotone of Mukhrani. She d. 1610, having had issue - see Georgia (Kakheti).
3) A youngest daughter. m. Prince Kaikhushru (d. in Turkey, 1627), sometime Regent of Georgia, second son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang I, 2^nd Prince of Mukhrani. She had issue, five sons - see Georgia (Mukhrani).

1627 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Svimon Gurieli, Duke of the Guria. b. 1606. Deposed and blinded 1627. Retired to Jerusalem after his removal, and became a monk there. m. 1621, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Mariami (m. second, at Tiflis, 1638, as his third wife, H.M. The Most High King Rustam [Khushru Mirza], King of Kartli; m. third, at Tiflis, 1659, H.M. The Most High King Vakhtang V [Shah Nawaz Khan II], King of Kartli; and d. at Tiflis, 1682), daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Manuchir I Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, by his second wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Thamar, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kaikhushru II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé. He d. at Jerusalem, after 1672, having had issue, two sons and two daughters:

1) H.M. Demetre, King of Imereti - see below.
2) Prince Otia Gurieli. m. a daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Zaal Sidamoni, Duke of Aragvi. He d. 25^th January 1645.
1) Princess Kethevan. m. 'Abu'l Akhar, Amir-Edjib (d. before 1677). She d. after 1677.
2) Princess Elena. m. His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vameq III Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, eldest son of The Most Excellent Prince Giorgi Dadiani, Prince of Salipartiano, by his first wife, The Most Excellent Princess Ana Dadiani. She had issue - see Georgia (Mingrelia).

1627 - 1660 His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kaikhushru I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria, only son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Vakhtang I Gurieli, Duke of the Guria, by his wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Thamar, younger daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Kaikhushru II Jageli, Atabegi of Samtzkhé. Deposed and blinded his cousin, 1627. Defeated at the battle of Banza by King Aleksandré III of Imereti, 1660. Fled to Constantinople. m. 1648, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Khwaramzi, daughter of the Noble Goshadze. He d. after 1660, having had issue, two sons and three daughters:

1) Giorgi III Gurieli - see below.
2) Malkhaz Gurieli, Duke of the Guria - see below.
1) Princess Toutha [H.M. The Most High Queen Thamar]. m. 1662, H.M. The Most High King Levanti [Shah Quli Khan], King of Kartli (b. before 26^th August 1660; d. at Isfahan, 13^th July 1709), third son of H.M. The Most High King Vakhtang V [Shah Nawaz Khan II], King of Kartli, by his second wife, H.M. The Most High Queen Mariami, daughter of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Mamuka I [Manuchar] Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia. She d. at Tiflis, 11^th October 1678, having had issue, three sons and one daughter - see Georgia (Kartli).
2) Princess Darejan. m. Prince Giorgi Tavdgiridze.
3) A daughter. m. Prince Aleksandri Dadiani (d. before 1640), second son of His Splendour The Pious Prince of High Rank Levanti II Dadiani, Duke of Dukes of Mingrelia, by his second wife, Her Splendour The Pious Princess of High Rank Nestan-Darejan, née Dchiladze - see Georgia (Mingrelia).
