1915 - [1980] H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Sha’ibun ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah III ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Husain, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Asahan. b. at the Istana Kota Raja Indra Sakti, Tanjung Balai, 5th October 1906, as Tengku Sha’ibun Yunus, sixth son of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmad Shah II ibni al-Marhum Tengku Muhammad ‘Adil, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Asahan, by his fifth wife, H.H. Tengku Zahara binti Raja Muhammad Yusuf al-Mahdi, Tengku Permaisuri, educ. Hogere Indische Sch (HIS), Tanjung Balai, and Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs (MULO), Batavia, Java. Recognised as Heir Apparent by the government of the Netherlands East Indies, 8th February 1913. Succeeded on the death of his father, 7th July 1915. Reigned under the Regency of Tengku Haji Alang Yahya bin Tengku Muhammad ‘Adil 1915-1916. Installed at the Istana Kota Raja Indra Sakti, Tanjung Balai, with the title of Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah III, 15th June 1933. He was taken prisoner and held under detention by the communist revolutionaries from March 1946 until freed by Dutch troops in July 1947. Attended the Solemn Investiture of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands at the Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam, 1948. Mbr of the Governor of East Sumatra’s Cabinet responsible for Security 1948-1950. Capt 1st Btn Barisan Pengawal Negara Sumatera Timur 1/11/1947, and cdt Tanjung Balai district 1947-1950. Rcvd: Knt of the Order of the Netherlands Lion, Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau, Solemn Investiture medal (6.9.1948), etc. m. (first) at the Istana Kota Raja Indra Sakti, Tanjung Balai, 17th June 1933, H.H. Tengku Nur ul-Asikhin binti al-Marhum Tengku Rahmad, Tengku Permaisuri (b. at Bedagai, 1896; d. at Medan, 1st January 1973), installed as Tengku Permaisuri at the Istana Kota Raja Indra Sakti, Tanjung Balai, 17th June 1933, daughter of Y.A.M. Tengku Rahmad bin Tengku Ismail al-Haj, Pangeran Bendahara Putra, of Bedagai, by his wife, Y.M. Tengku Tisah [Mulki] binti Tengku Muhammad ‘Adil, fifth daughter of Y.A.M. Tengku Muhammad ‘Adil [Babul] ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmad Shah. m. (second) at the Istana Kota Raja Indra Sakti, Tanjung Balai, 1933, Encik Mariam. m. (third) at the Istana Kota Raja Indra Sakti, Tanjung Balai, September 1933, Encik Sa’adiah binti Muhammad Ariffin (b. 1917), daughter of Encik Muhammad Ariffin. He d. at Medan, 6th April 1980 (bur. at the Great Mosque of Sultan Ahmad Shah, Pulau Raja, Asahan), having had issue, six sons and five daughters:

Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Dr Kamal Abrahim ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Sha’ibun ‘Abdu’l Jalil, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Asahan. b. 15th January 1958, as Tengku Kamal Abraham, third son of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Sha’ibun ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah III ibnu al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Husain, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Asahan, by his third wife, Encik Sa’adiah binti Muhammad Ariffin, educ. Medan High Sch and Univ of North Sumatra (USU), Medan, and Univ of Jakarta (MD), Java. Medical practitioner at Kota Raja, Aceh and in Medan. Succeeded on the death of his father, as head of the Royal House of Asahan, 6th April 1980. Installed at Tanjung Balai, when he assumed the reign name of Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Kamal Abrahim ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah, 17th May 1980. Chair Forum Komunikasi Keluarga Besar Kesultanan Asahan (FKKBKA) 2002. m. at Kota Raja, Aceh, 18th April 1993, Dr. Hajjah Eva Meutia binti Harun (b. at Kota Raja, Aceh, 11th January 1963), educ. Harapan Sch, Medan, Sumatra, and at the Faculty of Medicine of Airlangga Univ (FK Unair), Kota Paliatif, Surabaya, Java, medical practitioner. He has issue, two sons and one daughter:
  • 1) Y.A.M. Tengku Muhammad Iqbal Alvinanda bin Tuanku Sultan Kamal Abrahim ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah. b. at Medan, 17th March 1994, educ. SMA Harapan 1, Medan.
  • 2) Y.A.M. Tengku Muhammad Arif Fadillah bin Tuanku Sultan Kamal Abrahim ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah. b. at Medan, 29th May 1995.
  • 1) Y.A.M. Tengku Shafira binti Tuanku Sultan Kamal Abrahim ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah. b. at Medan, 14th December 2002.
