Hisam ud-din Alam Shah on 29th July 1960 as
the supreme award for gallantry in the face of the enemy.
Awarded in one class (SP), subsequent awards being
denoted by the use of bars. Recipients and their widows
receive state allowances.

April 1966. Awarded in a single class (member-DKM), to
Malaysian rulers and foreign Heads of State. Limited to
10 recipients.

Sri Mahkota Negara (the Most Exalted Order of the
Crown of State): founded by King 'Abdu'l Rahman on 16th
August 1958. Awarded in a single class (Ahli or
member-DMN) to Malaysian rulers and their wives, foreign
Heads of State and other distinguished individuals.
Limited to 15 recipients.

the State Crown (DMN) - collar, sash, sash badge, breast

Amat Mulia Pangkuan Negara (the Most Distinguished
Order of the Defender of the State): founded by King
'Abdu'l Rahman on 21st August 1958. Awarded in
five classes (1. Grand Commander or Sri Maharaja-SMN
and limited to 25 recipients, 2. Commander or Panglima-PMN
limited to 75 recipients, 3. Companion or Johan-JMN
limited to 700 recipients; 4. Officer or Kesatria-KMN,
and 5. Member or Ahli-AMN). A medal in silver (Pingat-PPN)
was instituted on 9th August 1960.

the Defender of the Realm - First class or Sri
Maharaja (SMN)
collar, collar badge, sash, breast star and sash
badge.
- Darjah Yang
Mulia Setia Mahkota Malaysia (the Distinguished Order
of Loyalty to the Crown of Malaysia): founded by King
Ismail Nasir ud-din Shah on 15th April 1966.
Conferred in recognition of meritorious service in the
civil service, are persons of high social standing, or
those holding positions of authority. Awarded in three
classes (1. Grandee or Sri-SSM limited to 25
recipients, 2. Commander or Panglima-PSM limited
to 250 recipients, 3. Companion or Johan-JSM
limited to 800 recipients).
